The 2009 NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America is the thirty-first race of the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup season and race five of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, serving as the only Saturday night race in the Chase. The 334-lap, 501 miles (806 km) event is scheduled to be held on October 17 at the 1.5 miles (2.4 km) Lowe's Motor Speedway in the Charlotte, North Carolina suburb of Concord. ABC will telecast the race beginning at 7 PM US EDT and the Performance Racing Network (Terrestrial) along with Sirius XM Radio (Satellite) will have radio coverage starting at the same time. Jimmie Johnson won the event, increasing his championship lead and chances for a fourth consecutive title.
